SENSIT
SENSIT is a Czech manufacturer of temperature sensors and related measurement instrumentation, headquartered in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and supplying certified sensor equipment for railway rolling stock in the Czech Republic and internationally.
The business dates from 1991, when SENSIT Rožnov was established in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm as an association of individuals, building on the measurement and control engineering expertise of employees from the town’s Tesla electronics works. The limited company behind it was registered in September 1995 and has carried the name SENSIT s.r.o. since November 2006.
The company works exclusively in sensors and measurement: it develops, manufactures and sells sensors for temperature, humidity, CO2, level, flow and position, with resistance temperature sensors as the core product line. The Czech Statistical Office places it in the 50–99 employee category.
An authorised metrology centre has been part of the company since 2001, authorised by the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing for verification of heat and cooling meters and their temperature sensors. Calibration of delivered sensors is offered as a separate service.
Products for railway vehicles
SENSIT has developed, manufactured and supplied sensors for railway vehicles since 2004. For rolling stock it produces pressure and temperature sensors for interiors and equipment spaces, combined temperature and relative humidity sensors, CO2 sensors for air conditioning ducts, temperature converters, and electronic and bimetal temperature switches.
Standard sensing elements include Pt 100, Pt 1000 and Ni 1000, with analogue outputs alongside RS 485 and CAN (Controller Area Network) protocol versions.
Typical applications include temperature measurement in passenger compartments as part of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control, and secondary temperature measurement on electrical resistors of electrodynamic brakes in electric and diesel-electric locomotives.
Sensors can be supplied in customer-specific configurations, including modified stem lengths and non-standard sensing elements.
Certification and markets
Products for the rolling stock segment are tested against the European railway standards EN 50155 (electronic equipment on rolling stock), EN 61373 (shock and vibration), EN 50121-3-2 (electromagnetic compatibility) and EN 45545-2 (fire protection), with the National Fire Protection Association standard NFPA 130 covered for relevant product groups.
Testing is confirmed by reports and certificates from an independent accredited testing laboratory, and the company issues EU declarations of conformity.
SENSIT states that its sensors are compatible with control systems from a range of international automation suppliers and are used both inside and outside the Czech Republic. Beyond rail, its sensors serve industrial measurement and control, heat metering and building applications.
Current activity
Indoor combined sensors with RS 485 output have been fitted with a hardware address switch, which allows up to 14 addresses to be set without software or a connected device.
The company has announced participation in successive editions of Rail Business Days, the annual Czech rail trade fair and conference in Ostrava, and puts its 2026 programme at around six exhibitions and fifteen conferences, including InnoTrans in Berlin in September.
