SENSIT
SENSIT is a Czech manufacturer of temperature sensors and related measurement instrumentation, headquartered in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and supplying certified sensor equipment for railway rolling stock in the Czech Republic and internationally.
SENSIT s.r.o. was founded in 1991 in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm as an association of individuals under the name SENSIT Rožnov, building on the measurement and control engineering expertise of employees from the town’s Tesla electronics works.
The Czech Statistical Office places the company in the 50–99 employee category. It develops, manufactures and sells sensors for temperature, humidity, CO2, level, flow and position, with resistance temperature sensors as the core product line.
SENSIT operates an authorised metrology centre and offers calibration of delivered sensors. Company information is published at sensit.cz, with a dedicated site for the rolling stock segment at railwayvehicles.com.
Products for railway vehicles
SENSIT has developed, manufactured and supplied sensors for railway vehicles since 2004. For rolling stock, the company produces interior temperature sensors, combined temperature and relative humidity sensors, CO2 sensors for air conditioning ducts, temperature converters, and electronic and bimetal temperature switches.
Standard sensing elements include Pt 100, Pt 1000 and Ni 1000, with analogue outputs alongside RS 485 and CAN protocol versions.
Typical applications include temperature measurement in passenger compartments as part of HVAC control, and secondary temperature measurement on electrical resistors of electrodynamic brakes in electric and diesel-electric locomotives.
Sensors can be supplied in customer-specific configurations, including modified stem lengths and non-standard sensing elements.
Certification and market position
Products for the rolling stock segment are tested against the European railway standards EN 50155 (electronic equipment on rolling stock), EN 61373 (shock and vibration), EN 50121-3-2 (electromagnetic compatibility) and EN 45545-2 (fire protection), with NFPA 130 covered for relevant product groups.
Testing is confirmed by reports and certificates from an independent accredited testing laboratory, and the company issues EU declarations of conformity.
SENSIT states that its sensors are compatible with control systems from a range of international automation suppliers and are used both inside and outside the Czech Republic. Beyond rail, its sensors serve industrial measurement and control, heat metering and building applications.
Current activity
SENSIT has recently updated its interior combined sensors with RS 485 output, adding a hardware address switch that allows configuration of up to 14 addresses without software or a connected device. The company announced its participation in Rail Business Days in Ostrava, held on 9–11 June 2026 — its most recent documented rail trade fair activity.
