Pantohealth
Pantohealth is a Berlin-based technology company that combines real-time monitoring with simulation to support predictive maintenance of pantographs and overhead contact lines.
Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Berlin, the company emerged from the entrepreneurship environment around TU Berlin. It approaches pantograph and catenary monitoring from the data side: hardware collects measurements in regular service, while a simulation model generates synthetic data to train the analytics.
Core products
The vibration-based monitoring suite places an industrial Internet of Things (IoT) device on the pantograph and delivers real-time vibration data and visual monitoring of pantograph and overhead line. Detected anomalies are reported with geo-location, so maintenance teams can act on a specific position in the network.
The profiling suite combines high-resolution cameras, laser sensors and a point cloud scanner. It measures contact wire height, stagger and wire thickness, giving infrastructure managers wear data along the route.
The third element is Pantosim, a simulation environment modelling the dynamic interaction between pantograph and catenary across different catenary designs. According to the company, its data collection technique on the pantograph is patented, and the synthetic data from simulation feeds its machine learning models.
Market position
Pantohealth targets infrastructure managers and rolling stock operators and delivers its analytics as a software service built on sensor data from the running vehicle. The combination of onboard measurement and simulation positions the company in predictive rather than reactive maintenance of the electrified infrastructure.
Current activity
Pantohealth worked with Leipzig’s public transport operator on monitoring the condition of contact wires across the city’s roughly 300-kilometre tram track network. The pilot ran under CE4CE, a project funded through the EU’s Interreg Central Europe programme that concluded in 2026.
The company also secured co-financing from Investitionsbank Berlin in 2024 under the Pro FIT programme, for an 18-month project on predictive maintenance of electrified overhead lines, according to its own channels.
