GERMANY: Nox Mobility has opened ticket sales for its first night train, a Hamburg–Munich service due to start on 23 March 2027. The Berlin-based start-up plans three departures a week in each direction, calling at Bremen and Augsburg.
The company unveiled its first finished coach at the InnoTrans trade fair in Berlin as sales opened. Each passenger has their own “Nox Suite”, a seat that converts into a 2 m lie-flat space, and fares start at EUR 65 one way, according to the announcement. Private rooms for one or two people are due to join the fleet from 2029.
The trains will be operated by TRI Train Rental, co-founder Thibault Constant has said. Nox handles branding and sales and will use third parties for traction and on-board service, he said. The announcement does not say whether infrastructure manager DB InfraGO has allocated paths for the service in the 2027 timetable.
Converted coaches, daily service later
The coach on display is a converted former DB Intercity coach from the 1980s, according to Berliner Zeitung. Nox is starting with second-hand rolling stock and plans to move to daily departures after the launch period. It has not given a date for that step.
“At Nox Mobility, every passenger has their own space to work and rest,” Thibault Constant said in the announcement. He added that night train travel in Europe still means sharing a cabin with four strangers.
From funding round to ticket sales
Nox was founded in 2025. Its other co-founders are Janek Smalla, who previously worked at FlixTrain, and investor Artur Hasselbach.
The company raised EUR 2m in a pre-seed round led by IBB Ventures in April 2026. The Hamburg–Munich announcement mentions no public funding or service contract for the route.
