Leroy Automation
Leroy Automation is a French manufacturer of embedded control systems and secure automation equipment for rolling stock and railway infrastructure, headquartered in Labège near Toulouse.
The company was founded in 1983 as Leroy Automatique Industrielle by engineer Jean Leroy and adopted its current name in the 2000s. According to the AGÔN Electronics group, of which the company has been a member since 2022, Leroy Automation had 86 employees and revenue of 25 million EUR in 2026.
Products and services
Leroy Automation designs and manufactures EN 50155-compliant commercial off-the-shelf hardware for onboard automation: vehicle control units (VCU), BRIO railway remote input/output modules and communication gateways. The equipment is built into train control and management systems (TCMS), communications-based train control (CBTC) and ETCS applications with safety requirements up to safety integrity level 2 (SIL 2).
Since 1996, the company has supplied Alstom with remote I/O and vehicle computer hardware under the RIOM and BRIO product families, according to the company. Beyond rolling stock, it supplies automation for traction power substations.
Cybersecurity position
Regulation has turned cybersecurity for rail from a product feature into a legal requirement, and Leroy Automation has organised its range around the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Its BRIO_NG, LT200 NG and VCU SIL2 product lines are marketed as CRA-ready, with security mechanisms integrated at the design stage.
The company holds IEC 62443-4-1 certification for secure product development and references IEC 62443-3-3, TS 50701 and IEC 63452 as the security frameworks applicable to railway systems. Its production site is ISO 27001 certified, according to the company. Its data diode (DTD) provides unidirectional data transfer between network domains with different security levels.
Market position
Leroy Automation supplies rolling stock manufacturers, operators and system integrators across the rail, energy, defence and industrial markets. It has supported Alstom’s automatic train operation programme with remote I/O modules and power controller components, with early trials run on Regio2N regional train prototypes.
As onboard architectures shift toward centralised, Ethernet-based digital systems, the company positions its controllers and gateways as building blocks in networked TCMS platforms.
Current activity
In February 2026, the company published its CRA-Ready programme covering audits, secure hardening, documentation and training for railway operators. A follow-up position paper in May 2026 clarified the CRA obligations applying to legacy products placed on the market before December 2027.
The company is scheduled to exhibit at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago in October 2026, and at InnoTrans in Berlin in September 2026 alongside its AGÔN Railway business unit partner Mios Elettronica..
