Koltech
Koltech is a Polish manufacturer of underfloor and above-floor wheel lathes and wheelset maintenance equipment, headquartered in Racibórz and supplying rail depots and repair workshops internationally.
Registered as Przedsiębiorstwo Projektowo-Wdrożeniowe Koltech Sp. z o.o., the company was founded in the early 1990s and is based in Racibórz in the Silesian Voivodeship, close to the Czech border. Filed annual accounts put revenue at PLN 41.3 million in 2023.
The business runs on two divisions. The mechanical division designs and builds the maintenance and workshop equipment that carries the Koltech name in the rail sector, while a separate engineering systems division resells and implements Dassault Systèmes product lifecycle management (PLM) software, including the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The company also lists a joint venture in China, Qinghai Huading Koltech Machine Tools in Xining, Qinghai province.
Products
Koltech’s wheel and wheelset equipment centres on the TUP series of computer numerical control (CNC) underfloor wheel lathes, which recondition wheel profiles in situ without dismantling the wheelset from the vehicle. The series covers three axle-load classes — TUP650 for light rail vehicles up to 10,000 decanewtons (daN) per axle, TUP650H for metro-class vehicles up to 18,000 daN, and TUP650SH for railway vehicles up to 30,000 daN, with an option for axle loads up to 40,000 daN.
Each model is also available in tandem configuration, allowing simultaneous machining of both wheelsets of one bogie. The above-floor programme is built around the TUU1250, a friction-drive wheel lathe for turning profiles of both new and used wheelsets in roll-in/roll-out operation.
The portfolio is completed by diagnostic stations for automatic, contactless measurement of wheel profile and diameter (VIDIgo and PZK2), the PZD150 ring rolling machine for fitting safety rings in wheelset tyres, and the WM series of rail shunters for moving vehicles within workshops.
Koltech provides installation, commissioning, operator training, spare parts and warranty and post-warranty service, delivered on site, remotely or through trained local service partners.
Certification and representation
Koltech is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. In the Polish market it also acts as the exclusive representative of the Swiss workshop equipment manufacturer Nencki and the Italian company Irmie Impianti, according to its own communications.
Current activity
Koltech is listed as an exhibitor at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin, held from 22 to 25 September 2026. Earlier trade fair appearances include TRAKO in Gdańsk in 2023 and Rail Solutions Asia in Kuala Lumpur in 2022 and 2023.
