Three of nine TEN-T corridors will miss 2030 deadline
EU: Three of the nine TEN-T corridors will not meet the 2030 deadline, according to new European Commission work plans. Officially, the other six give no corridor-wide verdict. In practice, they will miss it too: each plan names at least one key project not due by 2030.
The Commission published the plans on 30 September. They are the official status report on each corridor, drawn up by its European coordinator and approved by the member states on the corridor.
“Full compliance of the core network will not be reached by the 2030 milestone,” the Atlantic corridor plan says. The Western Balkans–Eastern Mediterranean and Baltic Sea–Black Sea–Aegean Sea plans reach the same conclusion.
ETCS is in operation on between 5% and 21% of the corridors’ networks in the plans that give a figure.
The plans date several major rail projects after 2030, among them the Brenner Base Tunnel at the end of 2032, Vicenza–Padova in 2034 and Salzburg–Köstendorf in 2046.
