Boom Software
Boom Software is an Austrian developer of asset and maintenance management software for rail vehicles, headquartered in Leibnitz and serving operators and maintenance organisations across the European rail sector.
Boom Software AG was founded in 1995 in Leibnitz, Austria. Around 100 employees work at the headquarters in Leibnitz and at offices in Graz and in Oldenburg, Germany.
The company also supplies maintenance and production management software to industrial sectors. Rail is served through the Boom Rail Solutions product line.
Products and services
Boom Rail Solutions covers asset and maintenance management for rolling stock, with modules for asset management, workshop management and fleet management. Interfaces between the modules link engineering, fleet and workshop processes across the vehicle management chain.
The product line is built around the entity in charge of maintenance (ECM) framework under Regulation (EU) 2019/779. The software supports the ECM 2 (maintenance development), ECM 3 (fleet maintenance management) and ECM 4 (maintenance delivery) functions.
Customers and recent activity
Customers include Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB), Deutsche Bahn, Siemens Mobility Austria, Innofreight, Steiermarkbahn, Northrail and Stadtwerke Bonn. The customer base spans railway undertakings, vehicle owners and maintenance workshops, primarily in the German-speaking market.
In March 2026, FlixTrain went live on Boom Rail Solutions for ECM-compliant asset and maintenance management. In July 2025, Boom Software and PJ Messtechnik established the joint venture INFRATRACK Solutions to operate a rail test environment on the connecting railway of the decommissioned coal-fired power station at Mellach.
