Amberg Technologies
Amberg Technologies AG is a Swiss supplier of surveying and inspection systems for railway and tunnel infrastructure, headquartered in Regensdorf near Zurich.
The company was founded in 1981 and is part of the family-owned Amberg Group, which specialises in engineering and surveying for railway, metro and underground construction. According to the group, it draws on knowledge from more than 600 engineers, researchers and industry experts worldwide, built up over more than 60 years.
According to the company, Amberg Technologies sells its products and services through a network of more than 30 sales partners in over 40 countries. Customers include railway companies, construction firms, engineering consultancies, surveying agencies and universities.
Products and services
The Amberg Rail product family covers trolley-based measurement systems and software for as-built surveying of existing lines, track geometry control during construction and maintenance, and clearance analysis. Measurement data is exported in standard formats to CAD and asset management systems, supporting quality control across the track lifecycle.
The rail portfolio sits alongside two related lines: Amberg Tunnel for tunnel surveying and the TSP product line for tunnel seismics. All three draw on the same measurement and data-processing platform.
Within infrastructure monitoring and inspection, the company’s systems address the as-built and construction-phase end of the market: establishing the precise geometry of track and infrastructure as a basis for asset management and maintenance planning.
Market position
Amberg Technologies describes itself as a global market leader in railway and tunnel surveying. Local service partners in its main markets handle support and calibration.
Current activity
In June 2026, the company’s Chinese subsidiary Amberg Technologies (Wuhan) hosted a technical exchange forum and TSP user conference together with China Railway Engineering Equipment Group (CREG). The Amberg Rail software reached version 3.7 the same year.
