SNCF orders 15 more high-speed trains from Alstom

SNCF Voyageurs has ordered 15 additional high-speed trains from Alstom under a follow-on deal valued at around EUR 600m, with deliveries expected from 2029.
The order covers Alstom’s Avelia Horizon platform, marketed by SNCF as TGV M. Alstom says the new tranche will be quad-voltage to support cross-border operation alongside domestic services.
Quad-voltage, multi-system setup for cross-border operation
Alstom says the quad-voltage, multi-system setup is intended for cross-border operation.
The order is an option exercised under the Avelia Horizon Innovation Partnership framework already in place between SNCF Voyageurs and Alstom. The announcement does not provide further timeline details beyond deliveries from 2029.
Why it matters: High-speed capacity is increasingly constrained by fleet availability and long lead times. A follow-on order with deliveries from 2029 underlines how far ahead operators must commit — and why multi-system configurations are becoming standard for “Europe-capable” high-speed fleets.
