SBB and SNCF Voyageurs strengthen cooperation with new agreement

CROSS-BORDER: SBB and SNCF Voyageurs have extended their TGV Lyria commercial agreement to 2032 and committed to exploring new direct services from Switzerland into Europe.
The extension was signed by SBB CEO Vincent Ducrot and SNCF Group CEO Jean Castex, building on a partnership that has operated the Franco-Swiss high-speed corridor for more than 45 years.
The current commercial agreement runs to 2027. The five-year extension also opens a mandate to study new long-distance routes from Switzerland to France and beyond.
Extension secures corridor as competition on Paris-Geneva route grows
In 2025, TGV Lyria carried 5.7 million passengers across its three routes — Paris-Geneva, Paris-Lausanne and Paris-Basel-Zürich — with 17 daily return services.
The two operators say they will study extensions and new direct long-distance connections from Switzerland to France and neighbouring European countries, though no specific routes have been announced.
The partnership extension comes as competition on the Paris-Geneva corridor is expected to increase, with other European rail operators assessing entry on the route.
