Polregio launches tender for up to 22 new EMUs

Poland’s largest regional rail operator, Polregio, has launched a tender for up to 22 factory-new EMUs, with first units targeted to enter service in late 2028 or early 2029.
The procurement covers six EMUs under the base contract, plus an option for a further 16 units. Polregio says the final scale and allocation across regions and routes will depend in part on the outcome of its funding applications under Poland’s FEnIKS programme. The bid deadline is 26 February 2026.
Minimum requirements and delivery plan
Polregio’s announcement sets minimum capacity at 310 passengers, including 190 seats, and a minimum top speed of 160 km/h. The trains must support multiple working and include air conditioning, passenger information systems, Wi-Fi, power sockets and USB ports, and space for bicycles.
Accessibility requirements include wheelchair spaces, companion spaces, and an accessible toilet, with boarding supported via ramps or lifts. Polregio also lists onboard monitoring and a defibrillator as required equipment.
