Poland shifts Małaszewicze terminal control to the infrastructure manager

Poland’s infrastructure manager has completed the takeover of Cargotor, transferring control of Małaszewicze’s line, terminal and last-mile assets from the PKP Cargo group to PKP PLK.
The transaction covers 100% of Cargotor’s shares and was completed at a price of PLN 28.8m. The seller, freight operator PKP Cargo, has linked the sale to its need to secure funds during an ongoing restructuring process.
Gateway control moves to the infrastructure manager
Under the deal, Cargotor moves into the portfolio of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK), Poland’s state infrastructure manager. PKP Cargo has said the transaction progressed faster than initially expected and was closed after completing the required approvals, including restructuring and competition clearance.
Why it matters: Małaszewicze is a gateway asset where terminal and last-mile interfaces set corridor throughput. Moving the assets to PKP PLK places control of a key bottleneck with the network manager.
