Finishing Europe’s common rail signalling to cost up to EUR 85bn

EU: Completing ERTMS, the EU’s standard signalling and train control system, will require EUR 75–85bn in investment, the European Commission estimates. Only about 10% of the trans-European rail network is equipped so far. A new study blames fragmented deployment practices for the high cost.
