European Sleeper adds Hamburg stop to Paris–Berlin

European Sleeper will add Hamburg as a new stop on its Paris–Berlin night train, bringing the route into northern Germany and strengthening overnight rail links to Scandinavia, the operator said in a statement dated 27 January.
The Hamburg call will be introduced from 13 July 2026, after the Paris–Berlin service enters operation earlier in the year.
The community-owned operator will stop at Hamburg-Harburg, south of the city centre. From there, passengers will be able to connect onward to Denmark, Sweden and Norway using existing rail services.
The Paris–Berlin night train is due to start running on 26 March 2026, with departures from Paris on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and return services on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. The Hamburg stop will be added after the first months of operation.
Hamburg as a north–south gateway
European Sleeper said Hamburg’s role as a major international rail hub was a key factor behind the decision. The city sits at the junction between long-distance routes from Western Europe and northbound corridors into Scandinavia. Adding a stop there allows the night train to serve more than just its end points.
The company is coordinating final timetables with infrastructure managers along the route. Arrival and departure times for Hamburg-Harburg will be confirmed closer to the July start date.
