EKE-Electronics
EKE-Electronics is a Finnish supplier of Train Control and Management Systems (TCMS) and functional safety applications, headquartered in Espoo and operating across Europe, Australia, and Asia.
Founded in 1986, EKE-Electronics is a subsidiary of EKE Group, a Finnish family-owned conglomerate. Mitsubishi Electric holds a 34% stake following a strategic minority investment. The company employs approximately 100 people and is led by CEO Marko Mäkinen.
Products and services
The core product is EKE-Trainnet, a modular TCMS platform covering vehicle control units, train communication networks, event recorders, remote input/output modules, and gateway systems. The platform supports both new train builds and refurbishment projects across high-speed, commuter, metro, and locomotive segments.
Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2-certified applications are available as standalone products, including Automatic Selective Door Operation and Hot Axle Box Detection, compatible with TCMS from third-party vendors. The SmartVision platform provides remote condition monitoring and predictive maintenance analytics as a cloud-based service.
Certifications and standards
Products comply with EN 50155 (railway electronics), EN 45545 (fire safety), and IEC 61375 (train communication networks). EKE-Electronics holds International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) certification and is a member of the Union of European Railway Industries (UNIFE). Safety applications are developed to EN 50126, EN 50128, and EN 50129.
