CAF wins EUR 300m commuter train deal in Serbia

SERBIA: Spanish trainmaker CAF has signed a contract worth more than EUR 300m to supply 30 Civity electric multiple units to Serbian state operator Srbijavoz for Belgrade’s BG Voz suburban network.
The contract, concluded on 30 March 2026, covers delivery of the three-car units and includes two years of comprehensive maintenance.
Fleet renewal for ageing suburban network
The new units will replace rolling stock nearing the end of its operational life on the BG Voz network, which connects Belgrade’s city centre with its suburbs, running from the terminal stations of Ovča, Batajnica and Resnik and extending south to Mladenovac and Lazarevac.
Each three-car unit carries up to 546 passengers, 204 of them seated, and is rated to 120 km/h. The interior includes six multi-purpose areas accommodating up to 18 bicycles.
The contract sits within Belgrade’s Urban Transport Master Plan, which covers new metro construction, BG Voz network expansion and fleet renewal across the Serbian capital’s public transport system.
